Wageningen University and Research Centre (Wageningen UR) is the umbrella organisation of Wageningen University, Van Hall Larenstein School of Higher Professional Education, and a number of research institutes. As internationally renowned knowledge institute in the life sciences, Wageningen UR has a strong focus on water. Not only in research and education, but also in capacity building.
The Board of Directors of Wageningen UR brought the Wageningen Water Platform (WWP) to life in 2001. The WWP is a network focused on cooperation and the fast circulation of information. It consists of a central group that is in touch with an audience comprising all branches of Wageningen UR. The branches are all represented in the central group. The group is presided by Prof. dr Wim Cofino, head of the Centre for Water and Climate.
Within Wageningen UR research institutes and educational institutes combine their efforts to dissiminate and apply knowledge on contemporay integrated water management. By this joining of forces, it is possible to broaden and re-inforce the comprehensive development and application of water expertise of Wageningen UR, both on a national and international level. The WWP is a platform offering opportunities to employees of Wageningen UR to find each other in water issues and to students and companies to find Wageningen UR in water issues. The WWP is also a representative of Wageningen UR in cooperative partnerships, such as the Netherlands Water Platform (NWP).
